Patricia Kopatchinskaja is without doubt the most famous violin player of the day, known for her virtuosity, creativity, and expressivity. Each of her concerts is an exciting event that draws listeners into her unique musical world, which ranges from Renaissance music to contemporary works. Kopatchinskaja’s focus is to get to the heart of the music, to its meaning for us, here and now, notably by creating a context for it or staging it: in 2016 she conceptualized the innovative Bye-bye Beethoven project in Hamburg with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra to shake up classical music and question its conventions. In 2017 she responded to the problems posed by the environmental crisis with the project ‘Dies irae’, performed at the Lucerne Festival. She also toured Europe with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra to perform her project Der Tod und das Mädchen (“The Maiden and Death”), whose recording with Alpha won a Grammy in 2018. To date, Patricia Kopatchinskaja has recorded 30 albums, including ones with Gidon Kremer, Teodor Currentzis and her longtime friend Sol Gabetta. Her most recent recording, with another partner, pianist Fazil Say, includes works by Janáček, Brahms and Bartók.

• Sergei Redkin 

Born in 1991, Sergei Redkin comes from Krasnoyarsk, Siberia. He started studying piano at the age of six at the State Music Academy. In 2004 he moved to Saint Petersburg where he continued his studies at the Rimsky Korsakov Conservatory. He specialized in composition studies studying under Alexander Mnatsakanyan, one of the last pupils of Shostakovich. In 2012, he won the Maj Lind International Piano Competition in Helsinki, in 2013, the International Prokofiev Competition in Saint Petersburg, and in 2015, the Bronze Medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Valery Gergiev subsequently engaged him to perform with the Mariinsky Orchestra in Paris, New York, and Mexico. He has appeared in recitals and as a chamber musician in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Germany, Austria, France, Poland, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland. Since 2017, he has been an Artist in Residence at the Music Chapel under the guidance of Louis Lortie. In 2021, Sergei won the Second Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition.
