ABOUT THE ARTIST
- Isabel Pfefferkorn (Mezzo-soprano)
Isabel Pfefferkorn is noted for her stylistic range and intuitive musicality. Not only does her repertoire range from early to contemporary music, but she also performs as a pop and jazz singer. Highlights of her career to date include her Lied tour of the USA and Canada, her performances of contemporary works in the Konserthuset Stockholm and at the Time of Music Festival in Viitasaari in Finland, her debuts as soloist in Mahler's 3rd and 4th Symphonies, performing the soprano part in Schoenberg’s String Quartet nr. 2 in the Zürich Tonhalle, being Artist in Residence at the :alpenarte festival, performing Hollywood Songs with the Philharmonie Dortmund and her genre-crossing collaboration with Edin Karamazov. Isabel Pfefferkorn was born in Austria and studied violin, cello, piano and voice as a child before perfecting her vocal skills with Lina Maria Åkerlund, Angelika Kirchschlager, Thomas Hampson, Robert Holl, Helmut Deutsch, Silvana Bazzoni-Bartoli and Margreet Honig. Isabel collaborates closely with contemporary composers such as Dimitri Terzakis, Charles Uzor and Laurie Altman and has been involved with several recordings of their works.
- Dominic Chamot (piano)
The pianist Dominic Chamot was born in Cologne in 1995. He has won over thirty competition prizes so far, making him one of the most successful pianists of his generation. His most recent achievements include winning the first prize and the audience prize at the 2023 Viotti competition. Chamot began his career as an ‘emerging talent’ as a child, having been accepted into Prof. Sheila Arnold’s class at the Pre-College-Cologne of the HfMT Cologne at the age of only 12, which provided him with critical musical inspiration. Chamot continued his studies under the renowned pedagogue Claudio Martinez-Mehner in Basel and refined his playing. He completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Specialised Solo Performance with the highest distinction and hounours and completed his teaching degree with Zoltan Fejervari in 2023, winning the prize for the best recital of the year at the prestigious Musik-Akademie Basel. During this time, his reputation as a versatile artist grew, leading to ever-increasing engagements in various fields. He played multiple times at the Berlin Philharmonie in 2018, won some of Switzerland's most exclusive scholarships, and was invited by the WDR Symphony Orchestra to perform as a soloist at the Cologne Philharmonie. Following these successes, he received further invitations from orchestras throughout Germany. He also regularly participates in chamber music festivals, worked as a teaching assistant for the Theater Basel during his studies, and even served as a performing actor in two productions.
