ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Reinoud Van Mechelen, conductor, haute-contre
Graduated in 2012 from the Conservatoire Royal of Brussels, Reinoud Van Mechelen won the Prix Caecilia in 2017 as Young Musician of the Year, launching a major international career. After training with Hervé Niquet and joining Le Jardin des Voix under William Christie and Paul Agnew, he became a regular soloist with Les Arts Florissants, touring worldwide. He collaborates with leading baroque ensembles and is renowned for his interpretations of Bach’s Evangelist, performed with major orchestras and conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle. He appears regularly at Europe’s foremost opera houses and records with his ensemble A Nocte Temporis.
Anna Besson, flute
Cziffra Foundation Prizewinner Anna Besson trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris and at the Haute École de Musique in Geneva. Renowned for her mastery of both modern and early flute, she performs repertoire from the late 17th century to contemporary music, informed by period practice. She appears regularly with major ensembles such as Les Arts Florissants, Le Concert Spirituel and Le Concert d’Astrée, and is a member of the Nevermind quartet. Co-founder of A Nocte Temporis, she has an extensive discography and is Professor of Flute in Brussels and Amsterdam, giving masterclasses internationally.
