ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Julien Chauvin, violin
Julien Chauvin was drawn from an early age to the Baroque revival and historically informed performance, which led him to study at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. In 2015 he fulfilled a long-held ambition by founding Le Concert de la Loge, while continuing his work with the Quatuor Cambini-Paris. As a violinist and conductor, he has led numerous operatic productions and is regularly invited as a guest conductor by major orchestras in Europe and North America. His extensive discography of works by Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Berlioz has met with acclaim and awards from the international musical press (Diapason d’or, Choc de Classica, Gramophone); he records for the Alpha, Naïve, Aparté, Eloquentia and Ambroisi labels.
Louise Acabo, harpsichord
Praised by El Pais as “the latest pearl in the line of great French harpsichordists,” Paris-based Louise Acabo has built a distinguished career as a soloist and continuo player. She began harpsichord at seven with Aline Zylberajch and later studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Jörg-Andras Bötticher and Francesco Corti. Winner of the Concours Corneille and other international competitions, she holds two Master’s degrees and a concert diploma. Acclaimed for her continuo work, she performs with ensembles including Le Concert de la Loge, Masques, Pygmalion, and La Chapelle harmonique, co-founded The Banshies, and regularly appears at major festivals. She is also exploring organ and piano repertoire.
