
ABOUT THE ARTIST
- Sergei Redkin (Piano)
Born in 1991, Sergei Redkin comes from Krasnoyarsk, Siberia. He started studying piano at the age of six at the State Music Academy. In 2004 he moved to Saint Petersburg where he continued his studies at the Rimsky Korsakov Conservatory. He specialized in composition studies studying under Alexander Mnatsakanyan, one of the last pupils of Shostakovich. In 2012, he won the Maj Lind International Piano Competition in Helsinki, in 2013, the International Prokofiev Competition in Saint Petersburg, and in 2015, the Bronze Medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Valery Gergiev subsequently engaged him to perform with the Mariinsky Orchestra in Paris, New York, and Mexico. He has appeared in recitals and as a chamber musician in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Germany, Austria, France, Poland, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland. Since 2017, he has been an Artist in Residence at the Music Chapel under the guidance of Louis Lortie. In 2021, Sergei won the Second Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition. He released two albums on Fuga Libera, “Vagabund” and last year “Invasion”.
